No. Route I is guided in Czech, and an English text is provided so you can follow each room as the guide describes it. We say this plainly because it matters — there is currently no English-speaking guide on this route.

Yes. Route I departs at fixed times through the day, capped at twenty visitors per group, so your ticket is tied to a specific departure rather than open all-day entry. We confirm your time when we arrange your booking.

At least two days before your visit. Departures are capped at twenty people and fill up, particularly on summer weekends, so booking a little further ahead gives you the best choice of times.

Route I itself runs about fifty minutes. Allow at least two hours in total for parking, the walk up to the castle, and time in the courtyards afterwards.

Route I, “The Castle Presents Itself,” is the castle’s introductory tour and the one we arrange — the knights’ hall, chapel, armoury and the Grand Master’s apartments. The operator also runs longer specialist tours directly, which are not part of what we sell.

The senior rate applies to visitors aged 65 and over, and the youth rate to those aged 18 to 24. Carry valid photo ID showing your age, as it may be checked at the castle.

Children aged 6 to 17 have their own reduced-price ticket. Under-6s are admitted free by the castle, so you don’t need to buy a ticket from us for them — just bring proof of age.

After you book, we arrange your dated, timed place on Route I and email you a booking confirmation, usually well before your visit. Bring it on your phone or as a printout on the day.

Twenty visitors per departure. It keeps the tour a manageable size for the guide and the rooms, but it also means popular time slots can fill, especially in summer.

Route I runs daily from roughly April to October, with a reduced weekend-only winter tour of the representative rooms through November. The castle largely closes over the depths of winter. We confirm exact hours for your date when we book.

Most visitors drive, as Bouzov sits about 28 km northwest of Olomouc through the Haná countryside. A regional bus and train combination runs via Litovel, but services are limited, so a car, transfer or organised tour is simpler for most travellers.

The site is — first recorded in 1317 — but the fairy-tale building you see today is mostly a neo-Gothic reconstruction from 1895 to 1910, commissioned by the Teutonic Order’s Grand Master and designed by the architect Georg von Hauberrisser. It was built to look older than it is.

Yes. Its romantic silhouette has made it a favourite film location, including the exteriors of the Italian fantasy series Fantaghirò and the Czech sequel series Arabela se vrací (Arabela Returns).

Photography rules are set by the castle on the day and can vary by room; ask your guide at the start of the tour, and be mindful of flash near painted and gilded surfaces.

Not fully. The route involves stairs and uneven, historic floors typical of a hilltop castle, and the walk up from the car park adds further ground to cover. If anyone in your party has mobility needs, tell us before booking and we’ll share what we know.

If we are ever unable to arrange your requested departure, we contact you to find an alternative time or refund you in full. All sales are otherwise final, in line with the castle’s own conditions; refunds apply only where entry cannot be honoured on the operator’s side.
